  3. Hi Mr McAulay,
How did this happen? Was it at your school? And if it was did you guys still had school because school is important to kids because they need to learn.

    1. Hi Petulisa,

We had a quite a big deluge of rain. It think it was around 120mm in 24 hours. Paroa School is very close to the beach. When we get very heavy rain the creeks and river near us flood and the water can't get out to the sea. The digger was cutting a channel to allow the flood water to escape. We were still happily at school. We are used to rain here in Paroa.

      Thanks for your comment,

      Mr McAulay

    1. Thank you Eloise. The photos were taken with an ipad and I was just lucky that it was overcast. Sometimes when the sun it high in the sky and there are lots of reflective surfaces around, it can make the photos quite bright and harsh.

  5. Hello Mr McAulay,
That is some crazy rain there, how long was it there for? Also did it damage any equipment from the playground to electrical equipment? Did any of it get inside? This is the most amazing flood in a school ever! Something similar happened at the back of our class but it was not as bad as this.

  10. Hi I am Zac from Paihia School. Those photos are really cool. Did your school actually flood? A couple of years ago I flooded at my house. It was really scary. Thanks for sharing your work maybe you could check out our blog http://goo.gl/fR6NIu

  11. Hi Mr McAulay,
I am Wynter-Rose from Paihia School
I am amazed of how much water had access to your school.
In one of the comments I read that you are close to the beach.
That is something we have in common we are close to the beach too.
On a stormy day the sea washes up onto the road and we have to put sacks on
the side of the road to protect the hotels from flooding.
