Cross Country Reflection 2017

Hi this is Ella and i'm writing a reflection on the 2017 cross country.
I was a marshal for it and it was kinda fun but a bit boring at the same time TBC...

Cross Country 2017 - Quick Reflection

Kia ora,

I am so impressed with all of the students from Paroa School. Those students in Room 7 and 8 that were given the responsibility of marshalling, all stepped up and helped the younger runners have a great time. You all showed how caring you are, by supporting all the runners. Seeing 12-year-old kids guiding the 5-year-olds around the course was inspirational.

A highlight for me was seeing a runner that always has some spare energy at the end of our daily runs, collapse at the end, panting and gasping for breathe. They knew that they had given their absolute best.

Thank you to all those parents, children, teachers and others that helped make the event possible.

Cheers,

Mr McAulay

Karakia For Gathering Harakeke

KARAKIA FOR GATHERING HARAKEKE

Hutia te rito
o te harakeke
Kei whea, te kāmako e kō?
Kī mai ki ahau
He aha te mea nui
o tēnei ao
Māku e kī atu
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.
When the heart is torn
from the flax bush
where will the Bell bird sing?
You ask me
what is the greatest thing
on Earth
My reply is
it is people people people.
Te harakeke
Te korari
Nga taonga whakarere iho
O te rangi
O te whenua
O nga tupuna
Homai he oranga mo matou
Tihei mauri ora

The Flax
The flax flower
treasures left down here
of the sky
of the land
of the ancestors
give wellness for us
tis the sneeze of life
