Mr McAulay's Guide For Surviving Guy Fawkes and Firework Season
Kia ora,
Fireworks are here! Make sure that you are fire-wise and keep your pets safe. If you are sick of the same old sparklers and Roman candles you should head to an organised event. This way you get to see amazing fireworks and your pets can stay safe at home. If you go to an organised event you don't even have to clean up!
If you do feel the need to set of a few 'fizzers' make sure that you keep pets safe, don't be a nuisance, clean up after yourself (including sparkler sticks) and be fire-wise.
Stay safe,
Mr McAulay

Hand Stencil Art
Sometimes the things you throw away after the artwork is created can have their own artistic merit. We were working on stencil art using hands today. When this hand was removed from the painting it was almost more impressive than the artwork.

Arabic Volute
Have you ever found one of these shells on the beach and wondered what it was?
Well, wonder no longer.
It is an Arabic Volute. The Otago Museum posts an 'object of the day' and today it was this wonderful shell that I used to find on beaches in Manawatu.

Wild Weather
Hello,
What a wild day we had today! It was great to see the different reactions students had to the lighting, hail and thunder. I saw fear in some, excitement in others and from just a few - I saw business as usual. It was great to collaborate with Room 8 today on our weather strike inquiries. Check out the student blogs for new learning about weather, forecasting, weather maps, lightning, hail and other extreme weather events.
Cheers,
Mr McAulay

West Coast Swimming Sports 2016
Yesterday 14 swimmers from Paroa School competed in the West Coast Swimming Sports.
It was excellent to see swimmers from as far away as Whataroa competing with other competitors from Buller, Grey, Midland Line, Westland and South Westland.
Thank you very much to all those people that volunteered their time to help us make the event a huge success.
Canterbury here we come!

WELCOME TO ROOM 7 2016
Kia Ora,
Welcome back everybody from your long break. I hope you all had an enjoyable time and had plenty of adventures we can discuss, when we catch up next week. I will update the student Blog list to the current 2016 student list, as we create the new blogs over the next few weeks.
We need any unwanted magazines and newspapers for an art task that we will be working on over the next few weeks. If you have any spare please bring them into class next week.
Thanks,
Mr McAulay
